A cannon is a type of shot that involves shooting a ball with some other object to make it move faster or slower. This could be a projectile or another ball shot by a beetle.

Balls that are hit by something have the momentum of what hit them added on to their current momentum. If a ball is moving towards you, shooting it could slow it down or even reverse the direction its moving depending of the speed of the object. If its moving away from you, shooting it would add even more speed to what it already has.

Base Cannon

A base cannon which is the fundamental form of this tech would be shooting a ball with another dung ball using right click.

While holding a ball you can hold and release right click to shoot the ball you were holding a direction. You can also hold right click until a ring effect plays before shooting to do a "power shot" which makes it faster.

If you are doing this to boost momentum though be warned that shooting too much dung at a gold ball will make it explode (as utilized in Dung Defense.) Something you can do is have a 4 ball which is 1 tick below gold in the air and then shoot a ball into it. This would then merge into a gold in the air but gets the momentum of the cannon without any risk of it breaking.

Typically a base cannon is not worth the effort to do it compared to other techs. However cannons utilizing abilities of various beetles can be extremely good for shots on the net.

Advanced Cannons

Advanced cannons involve utilizing beetle abilities to shoot an object faster than shooting a regular dung ball is. This then adds more speed to the gold ball to make it go faster across the map or towards the net.

For example with Potato Beetle, if you hold down the ability button while you have dung in you it charges a shot. Releasing this shoots a dung ball at a much higher velocity than a base shot which can end up shooting the ball it merges into across the map.
