A cannon involves shooting a ball with some other object to make it move faster or slower. This could be an projectile shot by a beetle or another ball that hits it.

Balls that are hit by something has the momentum of what hit them added on to their current momentum. If the ball is moving towards you, shooting another ball at it to then merge into it would slow it down a bit. If its moving away from you, shooting another ball at it that then merges into it would increase the speed it it moving away from you at.

If you are doing this to boost momentum though be warned that shooting too much dung at a gold ball will make it explode (as utilized in Dung Defense.) Something you can do is shoot a 4 ball which is 1 tick below gold and then shoot a ball into it which then merged into a gold in the air but gets the momentum of the cannon.

Typically a base cannon is not worth the effort to do it compared to other techs. However cannons utilizing abilities of various beetles can be extremely good for power shots on the net.

For example with Potato Beetle, if you hold down the ability button while you have dung in you it charges a shot. Releasing this shoots a dung ball at a much higher velocity than a base shot which can end up shooting the ball it merges into across the map.

These are all the known techs that involve a cannon strategy
