The Pop-Up is generally considered the "beginners" version of an Air Stall . It is simpler to execute and easier to do consistently for newer players with the con of temporarily loosing possession during the move. There are situational use cases for a Pop-Up over an Air Stall but once the Pop-Up is mastered it is highly suggested to learn the Air Stall as a more advanced vertical movement technique.

Most instances of Pop-Ups being used is to set up a Momentum Transfer.

To Perform

  1. Shoot the ball upwards (low power do not charge the shot).
  2. Wait for your beetles post shoot animation to end.
  3. Headbutt Grab upwards towards the ball.

The animation is very short but if you try and headbutt grab upwards too soon after shooting , during your Beetles recovery animation , your input will be ignored and you will have to re-click the headbutt button

Boosted Variant

Pop-Ups can have a Boost applied to them while the beetle performing the tech is performing a Headbutt Grab towards the ball. This allows them to gain even more height than they would gain normally. This is easier to set up if the beetle is already in the air when starting to perform it (for example due to ladybug being able to stall in the air after they shoot the ball up to headbutt grab up to it correctly).
